C3 at COP28
COP28 concludes with vibrant energy and an optimistic perspective on how entrepreneurship and technology play key roles in tackling climate change.
We launched our latest research, on the Role of Impact-Driven Entrepreneurs in Addressing Climate Change and Adopting a Climate Justice Approach, at COP28’s Green Zone Technology and Innovation Hub.
“Climate justice is gaining prominence in discussions due to the inherent injustices at the heart of climate change. Despite contributing minimally to climate change, vulnerable communities bear the brunt of its impact,” said Lana Azhari, Research and Insights Manager at C3.
We were joined by incredible panelists, Professor Bruce Usher, from Columbia Business School and Author of the book Investing in the Era of Climate Change, and Cherine El Hakim from HSBC, for a discussion moderated by Medea Nocentini, C3 Founder and Senior Partner at Global Ventures.
We then brought our network of founders, investors, experts, corporates, academia, students, and government representatives for a COP Connect Mixer to foster connections among changemakers shaping the future.
Our featured guests, including C3’s Alumni Jan Vader from Desert Control and Starry Jiang from Tencent, shared their insights and vision on the future of innovation addressing climate change in the region, enabled by initiatives like Desert Control and Innovate for Climate Tech Coalition launched at COP28.
The discussion highlighted the untapped markets that founders combating climate change could look into and emphasised the nascent concept of climate justice among impact-driven entrepreneurs. The speakers stressed the importance of collaboration with diverse stakeholders to raise awareness and empower founders to take meaningful action.
The upcoming years hold immense significance for accelerating climate solutions in an inclusive and just manner, and we remain dedicated to empowering impact-driven entrepreneurs on their journey to address climate challenges and beyond.
